Howard B. Prossnitz
Howard B. Prossnitz is a leading complex litigation and securities arbitration attorney with over 30 years of successful practice. Prior to starting The Law Offices of Howard B. Prossnitz in 1994, he was a litigation partner at a 50-person Chicago law firm. He currently focuses on group FINRA arbitrations for investors and retirees who have lost more than $100,000. His specialty is representing victims of Ponzi schemes and selling away cases in claims against the clearing firm. He is a member of PIABA and on the Editorial Board of the PIABA Bar Journal. PIABA stands for Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association.
Mr. Prossnitz has represented about 100 Morgan Keegan investors and 100 retirees in North Carolina who lost $8 million in a Ponzi scheme. He has filed many cases for these individuals.
In addition to his work on multi-claimant investment schemes, Mr. Prossnitz has experience as a class-action attorney. He is working on a consumer class case involving Heart Check America. He was co-lead counsel on a class action involving Madoff feeder funds. In the recent past, he was one of the counsel in a class action against Toyota concerning run flat tires that settled on a national class-wide basis. He also represented a group of homeowners in a lawsuit against their home developer.
Mr. Prossnitz is admitted to practice law in Illinois, California, and Florida. He is a member of the federal trial bar for the Northern District of Illinois and has been admitted pro hac vice to handle cases in New York, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
Mr. Prossnitz taught at Chicago Kent Law School as an adjunct professor on class actions. He is a 20+ year member of the Chicago Literary Club and has presented six papers. He served as Treasurer, a Board member and is currently on the Publications committee.
He is a graduate of Stanford Law School, where he was a member of the Law Review. He was a double major at Haverford College where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Highest Honors in Political Science (Kurzman Prize), and Honors in Economics.
